In Utah there is a lot of discussion about sex education. The country has come up with some new guidelines about sex ed and Utah isn't even close to following them. Is that a problem? I guess it depends on what you think about sex education. There is a big push to start sex education earlier in our schools.
I think these policies are just ridiculous. I think this is just another policy that is misguided by the left wing. Why in the world would I say such a thing? Parents have continually dumped child rearing onto the schools. When things don't go the way the parents want they will blame the system. Is it really the schools responsibility to give children advice about their sexual life? Shouldn't this be left to families to choose?
One thing that I think that is completely hilarious is the idea that this process actually works. I just think it is so crazy that one thinks these kids don't know about sex and ways to prevent it. These kids have access to drugs and know where to get them. These kids are on the Internet and they already know more about sex than most did in my era. I knew about sex and ways to prevent pregnancy before anyone taught me about it and that was over 20 years ago.
The reason that kids get pregnant is because there is a lack of structure and discipline in the home. Look at the areas that have the higher teenage pregnancies, it is the areas where families are broken and there are already many struggles in the home. The real issue with teenage pregnancies and so many other social issues has everything to do with parenting. It is time for society to realize that the answer is not in telling them about sex, but teaching them how to be responsible and what happens when you become a father and mother.
I think it is about time for society to wake up and realize that structure, discipline, and love are the key to our societal issues.
